The Competition Among Primary School (CAPS) programme under Sakyong area in West Sikkim

Geyzing, December 19: The Competition Among Primary School (CAPS) programme under Sakyong area in West Sikkim concluded today here at Yangtey Primary School. The event was attended by senior citizen and chief patron of organizing committee R. Wangyal Kazi as the chief guest. Additional director (HRDD) Tshering Eden Bhutia, headmasters and principals of different schools, students and parensts were also present in the event.
The programme had started on 18th April 2018. Different sporting and scholastic competitions were held among six primary schools of Sakyong complex. Yangtey primary school, Ramitey primary school, Lower Bhaluthang primary school, Upper Bhaluthang primary school, Kabirthang primary school and Sakyong senior secondary school were the participants schools in the competitions. Apart from sporting events such as football, badminton and athletics, inter-school competitions on painting, dancing, handwriting, elocution, extempore, spelling, quiz, singing, role play, rhymes and were other events included in the programme.
Yangtey school headmaster Dawa Tshering Bhutia informed that the CAPS programme is a student- oriented programme conceptualized and initiated by the primary schools functional under Sakyong. He added that the CAPS programme was started in 2012 with objectives of creating opportunity for the primary schools' students to be the part of extra - curriculum apart from mainstream academic actovities.  "Our effort is enabling students' involvement in holistic educational activities to ensure all round development of the students. Growth of essence of competitiveness among the students is what the programme aims for,” Bhutia said. 
He shared that CAPS programme will be organized annually.

R.Wangyal Kazi while addressing the event praised the initiative of primary schools of Sakyong and said that students - based programmes always help to bring about needed educational improvement. The CAPS programme is a noble step initiated by the schools of Sakyong and I feel that other schools would be encouraged to start similar kinds of programme in coming days to make the education reachable to the students in a constructive way. I am happy to see the primary schools of Sakyong walking on the path of progress and prosperities” Bhutia said.
He urged the students to never shy away from being the part of activities that contribute to development of talents and skills.

Tshering Eden Bhutia in her brief address appreciating the initiative of primary schools of Sakyong complex, said that the initiative was encouraging and constructive and other primary schools of West Sikkim should learn from primary schools of Skayong.

Most of the awards and prizes given in various scholastic and sporting competition went to Yangtey Primary School for their outstanding performances. The winners and runners up school of the competitions were given cash prizes, trophies, momentoes and certificates of appreciations.
