Farmers' Training by SSB on Food Processing and Value Addition of Horticultural Crops at CAEPHT concluded Today

The five day long training for farmers on food processing and value addition of horticultural crops organized by 36th Bn. SSB concluded today at Central Agricultural University, Ranipool. A total of fifteen farmers from remote border villages of West Sikkim   attended the training under SSB’s Civic Action Programme.
          On this occasion, Dr. P.P.Dabral, Dean, Central Agricultural University, Ranipool, presiding over the valedictory function, congratulated all faculty members for their untiring effort in conducting the successful training and assured that in future the university will be happy to provide all assistance to SSB in future. He assured farmers that they can visit university any time for any assistance in their work. 
          The programme was conducted by chief coordinator Professor Dr. Sujata Jena and Asstt. Professor Dr. S. Prashant.  Professor Dr. Sujata Jena informed the guests about the subjects taught during the training.   Shri P.D. Tamang, Executive Engineer ICAR, FS & AD Department Govt. of Sikkim taught the farmers about the schemes of the Government to start their own venture. He said that the farmers can make their own cooperative society and start their processing plant for which Government will provide them all financial & technical helps.
          Shri G.D. Saklani, APO, SSB, Sector Headquarters Gangtok urged the farmers to implement whatever they have learnt during the training   in enhancing their livelihood.
          The programme also had an interactive session between farmers and the present dignitaries who expressed their gratitude for such a meaningful training organized by SSB and CAEPHT. The products prepared by the farmers during their five day training were exhibited to the guests.  The participants look confident after having the training and expressed their interest to start new venture in value addition to their crop.
