On account of World Environment Day Forest Environment and Wild Life Management Department today organized a environment day ceremonial plantation drive around Cherenjee construction site of Pelling which is nearby Sangacholing monastery under Yangthang constituency. Among the participants in the comprehensive plantation drive were area MLA Chandra Maya Subba, Chief Administrative Secretary R. Ongmu, Secretary of cultural affairs and Heritage department A.K Ganariwala, Chairman of culture and heritage board Sonam Wangchuk, DFO (wild life) K.S Lama, Range Officer Bindiya Subba, monks of Sangacholing monastery and Pemayangtse monastery and students of Pelling Senior Secondary School.
Varieties of flowering plants like Rhododendran and Angelia and fruit plants were planted today around the premises.
R.O Bindiya Subba informed that the plantation drive has been organized to mark the environment day in a positive way and to make the day a constructive way.
