Hand over cheques to beneficiaries under National Family Benefit Scheme. A total of 45 beneficiaries from all the four districts of the state were given cheques carrying Rs. 30,000

Minister for Social Justice, Empowerment and Welfare Department Tulshi Devi Rai chaired a programme organized by the department at its conference hall, Lumsay on May 2. The programme was organized to hand over cheques to beneficiaries under National Family Benefit Scheme. A total of 45 beneficiaries from all the four districts of the state were given cheques carrying Rs. 30,000 each by the Minister. 
The Minister also launched and new disable friendly website of the department, hosted in the SDC under the domain sikkim social welfare.gov.in. Zangpo Gyaltsen, AD (IT) of the department gave a powerpoint presentation wherein he explained the features of the website, and thanked the department of Information Technology for the cooperation rendered during the development of the website.
R. Telang, in his address urged the beneficiaries that the grant provided to them is just a help and they must think of ways judiciously utilize it and use it for some income generating activities, and said that the department is always ready to extend help to the people. He called upon all the division heads to ensure that the content of the website is up-to-date.
The Minister, in her addressed, said that there are several schemes for the poor and the womenfolk initiated by the government under the leadership of Chief Minister Pawan Chamling, and urged the people to avail them. She said that the present government is always ready to extend every possible help to the needy and the deserving people. She congratulated the department for launching the disable friendly website and said that making Sikkim paperless has been the dream of Chief Minister, and she urged the department to work to achieve it. ‘We are in the age of information and every bit of information uploaded in our website must be correct and up-to-date’, the Minister stressed.
