DC South cracks whips on illegal liquor hoardings and sale at Jorethang
A team led by DC SOUTH & SP SOUTH and other Officers and Officials from NJMC, Excise(ABK), Food & Civil Supplies, Police, Building & Housing, BAC(Poklok), Disaster Management, Animal Husbandary, SJE & SW visited Jorethang Bazaar to primarily inspect the closed BARs and Restaurants and other issues pertaining to Jorethang Bazaar.
At the outset the DC requested the GM BSNL to remove the over hanging cables, other cables lying on the way side and issues of BSNL with UDHD. The issue of massive boulder was discussed as it poses serious threat to life and property. This issue is a long pending one. Accordingly DANS Energy shall be requested to break the boulder as risk mitigation.
The SP South has directed the Fire & Emergency Services to check installation of Fire Extinguisher in all Hotel and Hazardous place. He also requested the Child Protection team see if any minor child is being kept as forced labor.
Later the team visited Jorethang Bazaar and inspected Bars and Restaurants and Housing Complex under B&H Department.
The Licences of all Bar and Restaurant of Jorethang Bazaar were checked. The BARS whose liquor were seized are as under:
1. Hotel Jharna
2. Puspanjali Hotel
3. Delicious Den
4. Hotel Walk In
5. Hotel ABC
6. Hotel Rong Lee
7. Hotel Annie Heem
8. Hotel Aries
9. Hotel Janta
The Excise Department has seized liquor of all the above Hotels.
The Internet Cafe were directed to maintain a register and make entry of all people using the internet facilities. The gaming zone shops were checked. They were directed to install CC TV camera, further they were warned against permitting students entry with their uniform on. They also requested not to allow children below 18 years to enter the gaming zone. Children below 18 years were found at Bishal Subba Gaming Zone. The shops were SIM cards were sold were instructed to issue SIM cards only after obtaining proper documents. Further, they were requested not to issue pre active SIMs. The MEO NJMC was requested to enquire into the issuance of License of Fast Food Aradhya and S K Dan. Further most of the Hotels were using domestic cylinder. Therefore the SP South has requested the Food and Civil Supplies Department to look into the matter and issue notice to all Hotels to use Commercial Cylinders and recheck within 5 days.
One issue of labor came up in Hotel ABC. A minor boy was housed. The Social Welfare team shall look into the matter. The DC South visited the ICDS Daragoan. It was learnt that certain fund sanctioned for Daragoan ICDS would be used to repair CDPO Office and Daragoan ICDS.
There was a complaint regarding sewage problems of Housing Quarters. Therefore a meeting shall be scheduled with DE B&H regarding this. Several illegal structure constructed in the property of Housing Complex were sealed . The names are Jaya Gurung and Anju Pradhan. Mr Devendra Gurung was in illegal possession of Housing Quarter. Several contraband substances were found in his quarter.
In Sanjay sweets Ashok Menda it was found that kitchen was extremely dirty, the DC has directed the NMC to cancel his license. The burner used was in deplorable condition. It was learnt that Lokesh Pandal had illegally constructed a storage structure without obtaining permission from Building and Housing Department. Therefore he has been directed to remove it by tomorrow else the same shall be demolished. He has also been served notice before this.
