The 38th Foundation Day of the Limboo Culture Society (Srijanga Thakthung Sakthim Fujumbo) was celebrated with various cultural and traditional programs in the presence of Chief Minister Mr Pawan Chamling as the Chief Guest.



Being felicitated in the event by the committee along with 13 vital personalities from the area, he announced the construction of Limboo Society Culture Bhavan at Tharpu.



In his 3-hour long public address, he advocated his party policies and the work SDF has put into making Sikkim a better place. 'I have devoted my life to the people of Sikkim', was the highlight of his address.



'The people of Sikkim are upset with SDF. The reason for upset as they claim, is no development', he said.



Having reiterated the ongoing notion in public mind, he went on to justify, SDF has been the pioneers of development in Sikkim. Regarding the seat reservation, he said some day or the other the Limboo-Tamang will have the seat reservation. The Limboo-Tamang have been granted the tribal status under the SDF government in 2002 whereas they could have got it in 1978 with the Bhutia-Lepcha communities. Highlighting the inability of past governments to achieve the same, he said SDF government has granted every community of Sikkim equal rights and privileges.



Condemning the opposition parties, he warned the youth to be careful of the 'misguidance' being offered by opposition parties. In the name of 'change', we cannot adopt anti-Sikkim elements. If such happens, 'gunda' tax will start in Sikkim as in Nagaland, Manipur, etc.



The SDF party candidates must have a people-oriented approach and not seat-winning approach or else the party will lose these elections. Without naming any opposition party or leader, he very wisely presented his policies and points to the present mass.
