GTA CHIEF BINOY TAMANG CHALLENGES SIKKIM CHIEF MINISTER Pawan Chamling
"If you interfere in the politics of Darjeeling, we will also interfere in the politics of Sikkim."
Binoy Tamang, the chairman of board of administrators in the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) on Sunday announced that there would be no strike in Darjeeling hills even as he warned Sikkim chief minister not to interfere in Darjeeling’s politics.
Addressing a rally at Sukna, Tamang said “There will be no strike in the hills and the question of political identity of Indian Gorkhas would be solved without launching any movement or resorting to any strike.”
Tamang also announced that a new administrative arrangement is in the offing for the hills and that would be achieved without launching any movement. But, he did not disclose what that arrangement would be.
Toeing the state government’s line, Tamang sent a warning to Sikkim chief minister, Pawan Chamling and asked him not to interfere in the political affairs of Darjeeling hills.
“The ball lies in Chamling’s court.” “It’s up to him what relation he wants to maintain with Darjeeling hills,” Tamang said. "If you interfere in the politics of Darjeeling, we will also interfere in the politics of Sikkim," he added.
