The All India Senior Ranking Badminton Championship- 2017

The All India Senior Ranking Badminton Championship- 2017, organized by Badminton Association of Sikkim under the aegis of BAI (Badminton Association of India), began today at the SMIT Majitar, Marena Complex. It is for first time a badminton tournament of such a high stature being organized in SIkkim.


Being one of the six ranking tournaments organized in the nation every year, this tournament holds utmost importance as it is one of the selction tournament for Indian Team and the results of this reflected in the National Rankings of the players.
A total of 452 players from 27 states and sports boards are to participate in this tournament, where the maximum participants have been registered from Assam, Maharashtra, Haryana, UP, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Delhi.
The first tow days of the tournament have been scheduled for the Qualifying Matches where 301 players would battle out for registering a place in the Main Draw which already includes 195 players.
The main draw matches would begin on 6th December 2017, where Mr. R. B. Subba, Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs is said to mark presence as the Chief Guest on the opening ceremony.
The closing ceremony on the 9th Dec would be graced by the presence of Chief Minister, Mr. Pawan Chamling.
The international players participating in this tounament are: Pratul Joshi (MP), Asnal Yadav (UP), Bodhit Joshi (UTR), Anura Prabhu Desai (GOA), Rasika Raje (MAH), Riya Mukherjee (UP), Shika Gautam (KTK), Vignesh Deswalker (MAH), Anil Kumar Raju (RLY), Venkat Gaurav Prasad (CG).
