Road constructed under PMGSY at Kamerey, Duga develops grass within 15 days of carpeting. Departments and contractor in question for the quality of road.

Viral in Facebook since the last few days, the road constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Grameen Sadak Yojana,(PMGSY) at Duga, Kamerey, East Sikkim, was said to have developed grass in between without even 15 days of final carpeting. To investigate this, the TOS team went to ground zero and found that it was true. Speaking to the locals, they said notifying and complaining the departments and the contractor, no action has been taken. Initiatives by the Indian government and the Sikkim government to connect the most rural of places with good roads are going in vain due to the careless nature of departments and individuals.

It is not the first time in Sikkim as such cases have sprung up frequently in the past. Such carelessness of the departments and individuals not only blurs the image of Sikkim but also gives the leaders like Ram Madhav and opportunity to comment on Sikkim's development and roads.

Mr. C. P. Bhattarai, Ward Panchayat Member speaking to TOS media said that the departments should take the responsibility to build better roads and avoid such negligence. After a long time, such projects are undertaken and they should be implemented properly. He also requested some action to be immediately taken regarding the concern.
