Sikkimese Students in Japan under SAKURA Programme Sikkimese Student to Represent India to ask One Question to the Japanese Nobel Laureate in Physics
April 18, 2017, Gangtok: A team of four students with one supervisor from Sikkim are on a study tour and conferences in Japan under Sakura Science High School Programme (SSHSP) under the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) from April 16 to 22, 2017. The team of selected four students is a part of an Indian delegation to Japan for this programme. A similar delegation from Vietnam is also taking part in this progamme.
The students are selected to visit and have the following places and programmes respectively:
01. Visit to Japan Agency of Marine Earth Science and Technology
02. Cultural Programme in Kamakura
03. Visit to Nagoya Koyo Senior High School and discussion with Prof. Tosihide Maskawa, Nobel Laureate in Physics
04. Visit to Sizukowa University and Tokyo University followed by campus tourand lectures
05. Visit to Yamaha Motor Corporation and Suzuki Motor Corporation
06. Visit to National Museum of Emerging Science and Miraikan Innovation at Koto-yo.
While interacting with Prof. Tosihide Maskawa, at Kyo John School, each country (India and Vietnam are given one question each to ask to Prof. Tosihide Maskawa. On behalf of India one student from Sikkim has been chosen to ask the question. This may be noted here that the students are selected on the basis of merit which is to say that those students who have score 90% and above in the AISSE (Class X) of the CBSE have been sent.
The participants are being supervised by Physics PGT of TNSSS Mr Prem Das Chhetri and the participating students are:
1. Abhishek Pandey, Singtam SS School
2. Rohan Kumar Rai, TNSS School
3. Mohan Chandra Sharma, Dentam SS School
4. Bejoy Neopaney, TNSS School
The team will move back from Japan on April 24, 2017.
