Gangtok: 20th April: (Nita Nirash) “The Prime Minister has decided to give high priority to infrastructure projects.23 kms of construction on road projects has been achieved but my target is 40kms a day.This would be carried out next year onwards.I do not like delays,” said Union Minister for Road Transport & Shipping , Nitin Jairam Gadkari ,here today.He was addressing the gathering at the Foundation Stone laying function of 4 Highways.Governor Shriniwas Patil,SLA Speaker K.N.Rai, Maj.General Tejbir Singh,Minister for Roads & Bridges GM Gurung,Minister for Transport DT Lepcha,MPs Rajya Sabha& Lok Sabha,MLAs Gopal Baraily , Hemendra Adhikari and Sarita RaiMLA Kalimpong , were also present on the occasion Minister Nitin Gadkari ‘s gift of better connectivity includes , construction of 4 projects under NHIDCL namely, Singtam –Tarku 16 kms @ Rs 376 Crores, Tarku -Rabongla,16.5 kms @ Rs 290 Crores,Rangpo – via duct on Bengal /Sikkimborder @Rs. 134 Crore and Rhenock –Rorathang –Pakyong as part of alternative connectivity to Gangtok 26 kms NH 717 @ Rs 447 Crores.He has said that overall investment in next two years would be around Rs 16618 Crores,developing 1300 kms,including new NH and providing alternative route to Gangtok via Bagrakot-Bakhim-Algarah-Rhenock-Rorathang and spur from Aritar-Rolep –Menla.
