Singtam, April 22: (IPR) District
Hospital Singtam celebrated World Health Day with the theme "Depression
Lets Talk"at Community Hall Singtam today.
Minister for Health Care, Human Services and Family Welfare
Department Mr Arjun Kumar Ghatani graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The
programme was also attended by counselors, students, NGOs ASHAs, AWW and Peer
educators under RKSK program of Department of Health.
Addressing the gathering Mr. Ghatani appreciated the role played by resource persons for their counselling
to overcome depression.

certificates to the students
he congratulated the counsellors for their active participation in training of peer educators that was organized from June 2016 to December 2016 at District Hospital Singtam.

The Minister also assured to
extend required support to the trainees in streamlining the strategy against
suicide.
Mr. Ghatani suggested Chief
Medical Officer East to conduct eassay competition amongst students to enhance
their potential and to distribute IEC materials on depression and suicide.
The Minister informed that a total of 807 (Eight hundred and seven) programmes were conducted in East district only during the period of last two years.
